Day 6: Psalms and Wisdom Literature - Psalm 5

What I've learnt about God:
It's not even that God and wickedness are two ends of a spectrum, they are completely incompatible. If it was a venn diagram there would be no overlap. So often we can fool ourselves into being mildly persuaded by the arguments that God is wrong to punish small wicked deeds, but in this passage it's so clear that they just cannot be together. You cannot do wicked things and not expect punishment. Then on the flipside we also see God's love for everyone. In a venn diagram here there would be no human who God does not love. I particular enjoy verse 7 where it's made clear that it is because of 'the abundance of [God's] steadfast love' that we are able to get to heaven, it's not the fact we haven't sinned (because we have) but what God has done for us.

What I've learn about me:
I need to start accepting my sin more and treating it as God would treat it. I need to run from it and not let it slide it's way into my life. Instead I should be exulting and taking refuge in God.
