What I've learnt about God:
He wanted lots of people to know about His salvation plan, not just the rich and famous, but everyone. He entrusted shepherds to go and spread the news about Jesus. Often we may feel too small and useless to help God or spread the word but clearly this just isn't the case at all.
What I've learnt about me:
I need to be more like the shepherds - when they heard the news they went with haste and they returned glorifying and praising God. All too often I put off things I can do to further know God (such as reading the bible, or praying) and even after hearing a great sermon or whatever I return very quickly to my normal life rather than wanting to tell everyone around me about how good it was.
