What I've learnt about God:
God is judge. Now I know this but it struck me today that in fact it is only because God is judge that we can be assured of a fair trial. If He sent someone else or we were called to judge amongst our peers or ourselves, it would not be fair, it would not be just. God being judge is the ultimate in fairness.
What I've learnt about me:
Often we feel like we've done God a favour by donating money to His cause, or giving Him a small bit of our precious time, but here it makes it clear that God knows that those are all things He owns anyway, instead it is thanksgiving that is the ultimate sacrifice we can make. Not saying the other things are bad things to give to God, but thanksgiving should be our major way of showing appreciation and love for Him.
Verse of the day:
Psalm 50:14-15 "Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform you vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me."
