What to Expect

This blog really is pretty self explanatory; I've given myself 365 days to read the bible and I'm going to be posting my thoughts here, partly to keep myself motivated, and partly because maybe others would like to read my thoughts (if you do want to, please comment to I know whether I'm talking to myself or others).

I'm not going to be working through the bible chronologically because I think I'd give up within a few Old Testament books or just skip ahead to the Epistles as that's where I spend most of my time nowadays. Instead I'm going to be following the ESV Study Bible Plan which combines readings from four different sections each day. These four sections are:

  1. Psalms and Wisdom
  2. Pentateuch and History
  3. Chronicles and Prophets
  4. Gospels and Epistles
My aim is to write separate blog posts on each of these four sections each day so then they are easy to find if you are looking for a particular one. For each reading I'm going to be asking "What does this show me about God?" and "What does this show me about me?" plus hopefully doing a particular verse that has jumped out of me, or some thought points or something as well. I'm hoping to keep each post pretty short but who knows?

If there are days where I have no internet access or something I will still aim to write my posts and then just transfer them across when I have internet access again. If I really don't have time to do the readings then I will try and catch up as soon as possible.

So there we go, that's the basic plan. Looking forward to getting stuck into this, but also a little apprehensive about writing my thoughts down. As a sort of disclaimer just to say that everything I write is my own opinion and interpretation of the bible and obviously you may have differing views and interpretations and that's fine. Going to get first post up tomorrow morning so see you then.
