What I've learnt about God:
I think one of the key things this passage shows is His authority. He's not preaching and claiming things without anything to back it up, He has the authority behind His statements. It would be like if a professor was telling you something about the topic they've spent their life researching and instead you decided to listen to a random person on the street who'd never heard of the topic before. Clearly you should put emphasis on the person who has the authority to say and do the things.
What I've learnt about me:
Listen to God not the world, he has the authority to say what is right and good for me!
