What I've learnt about God:
He has the best salvation plan ever, Jesus' kingdom will be forever, praise the Lord! But not only that, God is doing the impossible to create that salvation plan. But the whole time He is still thinking on a small level as well as this big grand scale, Mary and Elizabeth are relatives, and often we just skim over that fact, but imagine how reassured and encouraged and built up the would have felt after those 3 months together - God was thinking big and small.

What I've learnt about me:
So often I'm a Jonah when God tells me to do something... I run in the other direction! I haven't ended up inside a fish yet but I might as well have. But look at Mary's response in verse 38 - because she is a servant of the Lord she goes with the flow and accepts the angel's message. What a different reaction to the one I would have had. I need to stop shying away from uncomfortable things God wants me to do.

Verse of the Day:
Luke 1:46-49 And Mary said,
"My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my saviour,
For he has looked on the humble estate of his servant.
For behold, from now in all generations will call me blessed;
For he who is mighty has done great things for me,
And holy is his name"

I especially loved the imagery of her soul magnifying the Lord, it's the same idea as being the lamp shining brightly in the darkness. I long for my life to magnify God but for that I need to start accepting God's challenges.
